| Only six months
after Sheikh Zayed International Academy-Islamabad
was established, the institution held the distinction
of being the only Cambridge University/London
Edexcel-accredited, Grade-A Category Examinations
Centre in Pakistan.
For the Grades 1 to 6 curricula, the Cambridge
International Primary Programme has been incorporated
and, for Grades 7 and 8, Cambridge Checkpoint
is followed. Furthermore, the Academy operates
under the IGCSE system for Grades 9 and 10 and
the A and AS Level programmes set by both Cambridge
University and London Edexcel U.K. Boards for
Grades 11 and 12. The entire curricula used at
SZIA is enhanced with the incorporation of indigenously-designed
worksheets, exercises, creative learning/cooperative
learning lessons, etc. which bring it to a truly
international level beyond that of the national
Cambridge Board. This serves to develop skills
in our students which will enable them to successfully
pursue the academic system in existence in any
college or university the world over.
Sheikh Zayed International Academy-Islamabad
itself is the embodiment of uniquely-imparted
education! As such, all of the teaching resources
(human, structural and material) are geared towards
optimal learning by the students. Rather than
the traditional rote-memory, white-board writing/copying
and textbook repetition type of instruction, the
students at Sheikh Zayed International Academy-Islamabad
receive the benefits of a high-quality, international-standard
education through the implementation of ‘Smart-Board/Data
Show’-facilitated instruction periods, creative,
activity-based lessons, cooperative-learning (group
work) lessons and lessons which promote critical-thinking
and enhance the reasoning powers of the students.
This emphasis on learning engages the student
in such a way that she/he pursues her/his education
rather than being in the process of simply receiving
it. In this way, it lays down a foundation for
active learning that will carry the student throughout
her/his academic career.
As a premiere international academic institution,
our Academy offers the subjects of English, ESL,
English Literature, Mathematics, Core Math, French,
Arabic, Urdu, Accounting, Economics, Business
Studies, General Science, Biology, Chemistry,
Physics, Information Technology, Social Studies,
World Geography, World History, Pakistan Studies,
Islamiyat, Sociology, Psychology and Law. In addition,
there is a provision for adding an offering of
any other subject for which at least two students
are registered.
Realizing that the formative years are important
not only from an academic point of view, but also
in the area of developing socially-correct codes
of behaviour in a child, SZIA is the only academic
institution in Pakistan to have created its own
Human Rights curriculum and have it incorporated
into the mainstream subjects for Grades 1 to 10.
The Health Education that is imparted to our
students is comprised of three main areas: seminars
on health-related topics are arranged for the
students and staff by the doctor as well as by
collaborating with professionals from other institutes
via multimedia, the monthly program whereby students
of each grade level visit the Health Office on
the ‘Student’s Leadership Day’
and learn the role of a doctor and learn about
the daily routine of a school clinic and, during
their time there ,they are assigned some health-related
tasks. Lectures are given to students on any health-related
topic from their textbooks to broaden their horizon
of the information.
