At Sheikh Zayed International Academy-Islamabad,
the health of each of our students is of prime
importance as the physical, social and emotional
well-being of a child is the foundation upon which
she/ he may progress academically and achieve
scholastic success. For this, the Academy provides
the services of the SZIA Health Office. As welll,
SZIA has on its staff a full-time, Clinical Psychologist
who administers aptitude as well as I.Q. testing
to the students, offers counselling sessions for
the students in order to provide complete assessments
and management of any behavioural problems associated
with the students and acts as a liason between
the school administration and the parents regarding
any psycho-social issues related to their children.

The SZIA Health Office:
The Health Office is staffed by a fully qualified
medical lady Doctor and a female nurse who are
trained to attend to the physical needs of children.
The Health Office is open to all students during
the regular School day timings of 8:00 am. to
3:00 pm. as well as on the days when the Academy
is holding any of its functions or ceremonies.
The many specific services provided by the SZIA
Health Office include the following:
- Seeing students and staff for health issues/emergencies.
- The school doctor and nurse keep the School
Health Office functional, equipped and neat
and clean.
- They are responsible for keeping the health
record of each student on a daily, weekly and
monthly basis and keeping the periodic record
of visits in the office.
- Annual checkups are done for each student
and reports are sent to the parents and parent
doctor meetings are arranged. These annual checkups
aim at maintaining a health profile of all students,
evaluate their health status and assist parents
in planning proper health care for their children.
This computerized health record (which includes
medical history) is made available to parents
on request when the student is leaving the Academy
and includes a report on:
- General Physical Health of the student
- Vision and Hearing
- Physical development
- Possible areas for further examination
- Seminars on health-related topics are arranged
for the students and staff by the doctor as
well as by collaborating with professionals
from other institutes via multimedia. First-aid
training is given to the teaching staff along
with practical demonstrations and multimedia
presentations.
- On a monthly basis students of each grade
level visit the Health Office on the ‘Student’s
Leadership Day’ and play the role of a
doctor and learn about the daily routine of
a school clinic and, during their time there
,they are assigned some health-related tasks.
- The Health Office has a theme related to health
every month and its boards are decorated accordingly.
The notice board at the entrance has three sections:
the information corner, the news corner and
the daily health-related updates which are maintained
on a daily/ monthly basis, as required.
- Full health coverage is provided during any
function or school trip.
- Lectures are given to students on any health-related
topic from their textbooks to broaden their
horizon of the information.
- The doctor supervises the hygiene of the cafeteria
and its employees and takes care that food safety
rules are followed. As well annual health assessments
of the Cafeteria Staff is carried out.
