SZIA pays tribute to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
The Academy Holds Its Pakistan Day Function
As a tribute to the creation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Sheikh Zayed International Academy-Islamabad staged a grand celebratory function on Saturday, March 20, 2010.
The colourful and lively event was graced by the presence of H.E. Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Federal Minister of Commerce, who presided as the Chief Guest. As well, there were a number of Ambassadors and Members of diplomatic delegations who were in attendance at the Academy’s campus Auditorium, the main venue for the programme.
Virtually every student from Playgroup to Grade 12 participated as they presented speeches, poetry, patriotic songs, cultural dances, a presentation of the provincial costumes, a fashion show and a presentation of famous personalities and historical figures. The second portion of the programme contained a multimedia presentation on Pakistan followed by a lavish buffet luncheon which featured a variety of dishes of Pakistani cuisine that was greatly enjoyed by all of the attendees and guests.
The entire programme ran for 2 ½ hours and was undoubtedly a very fitting tribute to the nation of Pakistan. The Principal of the international Academy, Wafaa Abdul Ghaffar, stated that “events such as this staged today serve to reinforce one of the most important objectives of SZIA—that of inculcating cultural awareness among our students.” |
